Major Fire in Kotayk: Charred Body of a Woman Found in Living Room

On December 3, a tragic incident occurred in the Kotayk region. At approximately 05:35, the Ministry of Emergency Situations' 911 crisis management center received a report that a resident of one of the apartments in building 10 of the 2nd district of Charentsavan was throwing items out of the apartment, and sounds of a child crying were heard, along with smoke.

According to shamshyan.com, two fire-rescue teams from the Charentsavan Fire and Rescue Brigade No. 47 and 44 arrived at the scene promptly. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in the apartment on the 4th floor, after which they discovered the body of a woman lying on the floor of the living room, partially burned.

Police and investigators determined that the deceased, who was in a half-burned state, was 89-year-old Roza G., a resident of the same apartment. Citizens gathered at the scene, who refused to speak on camera, stated, “We learned from the firefighters' arrival that such an incident had taken place, that one person had died, and two others had been taken to the Charentsavan hospital. Almost everyone in that family has had mental health issues. It was bound to happen one day. Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred. It was good that both the firefighters and the doctors from Charentsavan hospital, as well as the emergency department staff from Gazprom Armenia in Kotayk, arrived quickly.”
