Fully Vaccinated Individual in Australia Contracts Omicron Variant
A fully vaccinated individual against the coronavirus has contracted the Omicron variant in Canberra, Australia. This was reported by ABC News.
Additionally, 13 cases of the Omicron variant have been recorded in New South Wales, while one case has been reported in northern Australia. The health minister of New South Wales stated that there are currently no indications that Omicron is more dangerous than other variants of the coronavirus.
“We are not seeing people rushing to hospitals, which is a good sign,” the minister noted, adding that those infected with the Omicron variant do not display any significant symptoms.
Several high school students have also been infected with the new variant, leading authorities to close the school until the end of the year.
