Fly Arna to Launch Regular Flights on Four Initial Routes

The new Armenian national airline, established through an agreement between the Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF) and Air Arabia, the largest budget airline in the Middle East and North Africa, is set to begin operations in April-May 2022.

This was announced today during an online press conference by the director of the fund, Davit Papazyan. He stated, “Starting in May, we will commence regular flights on four initial routes. At that time, we will have two aircraft. A year later, we will have 12 aircraft.”

It is noteworthy that on July 14, the Armenian National Interests Fund and Air Arabia announced the signing of an agreement regarding the creation of a new national airline in Armenia. According to the agreement, an independent joint venture will be formed, operating as a low-cost passenger airline based at Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport.

The agreement was signed at Zvartnots Airport by the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Avinyan, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Air Arabia, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani.

Citizens of Armenia were given the opportunity to determine the name of the airline. From more than 500 submissions received in a announced competition, the name “Fly Arna” was selected. The term “Arna” derives from the name “Armenian National Airlines,” combining the first two letters of “ARmenian” with the first letters of “National” and “Airline.”
