COVID-19 Bought a Car for Alen Simonyan, Haik Mamikjanyan
These savings have primarily formed due to the fact that during the COVID period, business trips were severely restricted. Therefore, we can state that COVID bought a car for Alen Simonyan. This was noted today, on December 3, at a press conference by Haik Mamikjanyan, the secretary of the "Honorary Has" faction in the National Assembly, referring to the clarification made by the National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan that his new car was purchased from the Assembly's savings and no additional funds were allocated from the budget.
“If representatives of the ruling party defended our country’s interests with the same diligence during contacts with international organizations, spoke about the issue of captives with the same zeal, as they try to present our country as a bastion of democracy and themselves as contemporary 'Che Guevaras', we would have a very different picture. I do not know how it happens that they manage to convince their international counterparts that everything is fine with democracy despite numerous problems, but they cannot present issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, and several other problems with the same diligence,” said Mamikjanyan.
Referring to Alen Simonyan’s interview where he spoke about his business trips, Haik Mamikjanyan mentioned that he had studied the speeches of Alen Simonyan published on the Assembly’s website and the related statements. “You will be surprised, but in only half of them, it is mentioned that Alen Simonyan spoke, for example, about the issue of captives. Either he did not talk about it at all, or he did not consider it important enough to be included in the press release,” said Mamikjanyan.
