When Will December Pension Payments Be Made?

The payment of pensions for December 2021 will start on December 3. This is reported by the Unified Social Service. The beneficiaries of the next phase of the implementation of the complete non-cash payment system for pensions will be pensioners from cities other than Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor.

Accordingly, from January 1, 2022, pensions will be paid exclusively through non-cash methods in all cities of Armenia via banks or the national operator (Haypost). This information comes from the Ministry of Labor and Social Issues.

Exceptions will be made for the following pensioners, whose pensions will be paid at their discretion—either in cash or non-cash forms: individuals with disabilities of groups 1 or 2, pensioners over the age of 75, minors over the age of 14 receiving pensions, and those receiving pensions via a power of attorney.

Thus, all city-dwelling pensioners who receive their pensions in cash and are not in the exceptions group can already apply to any regional center of the Unified Social Service to choose an organization for receiving pensions through non-cash methods (any bank or Haypost). The deadline for applications is December 30, 2021.

If a citizen chooses Haypost, they must first sign a contract for the opening and replenishment of an electronic money account with Haypost, and present the certificate confirming the signing of that contract (this certificate is provided by Haypost) along with their application. In the case of choosing a bank, no additional documents are required.

However, if a pensioner receiving their pension in cash does not apply to change their pension payment method by December 30, 2021, the payment for pensions in January 2022 will be processed using a program module, which will automatically select a payment organization. Within three working days, the pensioner will be informed about the selected organization via mobile phone or email (if available).

This non-cash payment system also applies to care benefits and pensions paid under the regulations for old-age benefits, disability benefits, benefits in case of loss of breadwinner, bonuses, and honorariums.

It should be noted that a similar procedure for the payment of pensions and benefits has already been implemented in Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor since July 1, 2021.
