Azerbaijan Positively Assesses the Arrest of Ashot Minasyan in Armenia

Zham.am reports that months ago, when authorities attempted to arrest Ashot Minasyan but failed, Azerbaijani media viewed this situation negatively, continuously asserting that "Pashinyan is in danger and could implement a military coup in Armenia at any moment, which would put Azerbaijan at risk of a new war given the conditions of the new Armenian government." Now, during a relatively calmer period in Armenia, and against Pashinyan's will, when no court decisions are being made, Azerbaijan perceives the situation as one where "Armenia can now steadily roll into the abyss prepared for it by Baku and Ankara."

Ashot Minasyan is not a particularly political figure, but as a patriotic individual with bold opinions both during wartime and in peacetime, he has assumed a symbolic role, and his arrest signifies that something is changing in Armenia—this is precisely what Azerbaijani commentators have noted.

Furthermore, they indicate that it is they who have "removed Armenia's former Minister of Defense," suggesting that Azerbaijan is not only openly threatening Armenia but is also actively working behind the scenes against nationalistic forces in Armenia that refuse to accept Pashinyan's disgraceful policies.

It is clear that there will be questions regarding the judges who have acted on behalf of the current administration after a regime change occurs. In fact, a coalition has formed in Armenia comprised of law enforcement bodies, prosecutors, judges, and political representatives, whose activities are endorsed by Azerbaijan, demonstrating the real dividing line that has emerged within Armenian society today.

This division is not the artificial black-and-white separation of earlier times, which everyone is aware of but seldom discusses publicly. In Armenia today, there is a "creeping" process underway to form a "fifth column," wherein these circles may not understand their role, but their ultimate output leads to Armenia being in a situation that requires much more fundamental decisions to emerge from.
