Arman Tatoyan Alerts, While Syunik Regional Administration Becomes 'Inaccessible': 'Zhoghovurd'

'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports that Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has raised alarms regarding the alternative road leading to Vorotan being under the immediate observation of Azerbaijani armed forces. 'The only solution for restoring the safety and rights of residents is the removal of Azerbaijanis from the area,' emphasizes the Ombudsman.

The 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper attempted throughout yesterday to obtain a comment from the Syunik Regional Administration regarding the Ombudsman's report and alert, but our efforts were in vain. Governor Melikset Poghosyan remained unresponsive to our phone calls until the end of the working day. An employee, who coordinates the administration's work with the media and is currently on vacation, urged us to contact the Chief Secretary Edgar Martirosyan. However, Martirosyan expressed dissatisfaction that we were requesting comments on Tatoyan's reports. 'I am not going to make any comments on that issue,' he stated. When we pointed out that a colleague directed us to him, he curtly responded, 'He shouldn’t have done that.' In response to our request for instructions on how we could speak with Governor Poghosyan, the Chief Secretary replied in a rather traditional manner: 'You cannot; please send your questions in writing.'
