The Armenian Fund Issues Statement on Misuse of Funds
The Board of Trustees of the Armenian Fund listened to reports from the working group created to monitor the targeted use of funds raised during the "We Are, Our Borders" national fundraiser and the donations made to the Republic of Armenia throughout 2020, as well as reports from the auditing organization conducting the Fund's audit and the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia.
The Fund reports that the working group announced it has not obtained credible evidence of the misuse of funds. Furthermore, both the working group and the external auditor reported that legal restrictions have hindered the examination of the original documentation of the funds spent by the Government of Armenia.
The Prime Minister appealed to the Audit Chamber of Armenia, suggesting the possibility of involving the working group and the auditing organization at an expert level for the upcoming audits regarding this matter.
The Prime Minister expressed the Government's readiness to operate transparently and accountably, ensuring that all original documents are made available to the working group and external auditing organization to complete their work. Importantly, this aims to reassure both the council and the public that the Fund's investments have been used properly through Government channels.
The Board of Trustees will keep this issue under scrutiny and will revisit it as necessary. Acknowledging the Fund's role in uniting the global Armenian community around a common purpose, the council once again expressed gratitude to all donors and supporters.
