No One Will Be Able to Enforce It: Ashot Barseghyan on Ministry of Health Restrictions

As New Year's approaches, reservations have begun and in some cases even ended at several well-known restaurants. On the night of December 31, famous restaurants promise interesting show programs, music, and dance, and people have already made the necessary reservations, when the Ministry of Health announced a possible new restriction regarding entry into public catering establishments on January 1, which would require a QR code or test results.

ArmDaily.am contacted Ashot Barseghyan, the coordinator of the Armenian Restaurant Association, to find out what to expect this New Year and whether the restrictions would interfere with the operations of restaurants.

“There are orders, and I have already called on operators several times from this morning not to worry. No one will be able to enforce QR code checks. I urge those who have made their reservations not to cancel any orders; everything will go as planned,” Barseghyan said in an interview with ArmDaily.am.

According to him, Armenia does not have the technical system and human resources to conduct checks, and legally restaurants are protected. When asked whether there are any free restaurants during the New Year days, Barseghyan answered, “For a month now, we haven’t been able to book free rooms in Dilijan, Jermuk, or Tsaghkadzor, the same goes for restaurants, and it is natural that nothing will be canceled due to QR codes.”

Events are annual, following the same style and price scale. The cheapest seats start from 8,000 AMD.
