Is Sputnik V Effective Against the Omicron Variant?

“It will take three weeks to study the effectiveness of Sputnik V against the Omicron variant,” said Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), in an interview with CNBC.

Dmitriev emphasized that if necessary, around 100 million doses of a modified Sputnik V could be produced by the end of February 2022. He noted that developers are ready to adjust the vaccine for any virus variant if needed.

It is worth recalling that in an interview with the Financial Times, Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel mentioned that the effectiveness of coronavirus vaccines is more likely to manifest against the new Omicron variant.
