Man Found Weapon During Artsakh War and Illegally Kept It at Home: Investigative Committee

Since November 9, 2020, a 38-year-old man, being an employee of the community administration, while fulfilling his responsibilities, found a firearm—a TOZ-8 model, number 32116, 5.6mm caliber sporting-hunting smoothbore shotgun—near the Tartarr River in Karvachar, which he illegally transported and kept in a garage adjacent to his home. The mentioned firearm was discovered and seized during a search. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

“The preliminary investigation into the criminal case initiated on the illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of weapons, military equipment, explosives, or explosive devices has been completed in the main investigative department of especially important cases of the RA Investigative Committee. It was established during the investigation that the 38-year-old man was authorized by the community administration to supply food and equipment necessary for the soldiers stationed at the frontline during the war unleashed by the Republic of Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh in 2020.”

The firearm was discovered and seized during a search. Based on sufficient evidence, the 38-year-old man has been charged under part 1 of Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code. A measure of restraint in the form of a signed commitment not to leave has been chosen for him. The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor conducting procedural supervision with a request for confirmation of the indictment and to be forwarded to court,” the statement read.
