Indian Businessman Builds Replica of Taj Mahal for Wife
A 52-year-old Indian businessman has constructed a miniature replica of the iconic Taj Mahal as a gift for his wife of 27 years. Anand Prakash Chouksey built his 'monument of love' in Burhanpur, located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
"It was a gift for my wife, but also for the city and its people," Mr. Chouksey told the BBC. He mentioned that the construction of the house cost approximately 20 million rupees (around £199,000 or $260,000).
The original Taj Mahal is a 17th-century mausoleum located in Agra, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his queen Mumtaz, who died during childbirth of their 14th child.
