Scuffle During Arrest of Wanted Suspect: Police Use Tear Gas

On November 28, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. At around 1:10 AM, members of the 3rd platoon of the 1st company of the Yerevan division of the Police Patrol Service observed a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on Isakov Avenue while on duty.

According to Shamshyan.com, the police attempted to stop the vehicle using audible signals, but the driver, who did not comply with the legal instruction to stop, continued towards Babajanyan Street, then proceeded on Sherami Street heading towards one of the yards in the Victory neighborhood (known to locals as the 4th village).

As per G. Shamshyan's information, the police identified the driver as 30-year-old Harutyun A., a resident of Yerevan, who was wanted by the Central Division of the Police.

At that moment, the police attempted to detain him to take him to a nearby police station, but two individuals, a man and a woman, emerged from the house and began to interfere with the police’s actions.

According to G. Shamshyan, the police repeatedly urged these individuals not to obstruct their work, yet the individuals continued to interfere using a kitchen utensil. Consequently, the police used tear gas and placed handcuffs on the wanted suspect.

After that, the scuffle continued, and taking advantage of the commotion, the handcuffed suspect managed to flee.

By approximately 3:30 AM, two individuals, 64-year-old S.A. and 65-year-old L.A., were brought into the Malatia Division of the Police for using violence against a representative of the authorities in the Victory neighborhood. After some time, they were released from the Malatia Division of the Police.

According to sources from a photojournalist, officers from the juvenile affairs division of the Malatia Division took necessary measures and managed to detain the wanted Harutyun A. in the Victory neighborhood around 11:00 AM today. He was presented to the Central Division of the Police, where a preventive measure was chosen: signature.
