Tragic Incident at Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center: 2-Year-Old Boy Dies
Residents of Marmarashen village in Ararat Province, spouses Narine Sargsyan and Sasun Sahakyan, are trying to ascertain from the staff of Yerevan's Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center what led to the death of their 2-year-old son, Andranik, approximately three hours ago. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.
In an interview with photo reporter Gagik Shamshyan, the father stated, "Four days ago, due to health issues, we brought our child to Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center. Whatever medications were required, even blood, we provided promptly. Just hours ago, my mother fed the child, put him to sleep, and returned home. About three hours ago, we received a call from the hospital, urging us to come immediately. When we asked what the issue was, they responded that they would explain upon our arrival. We rushed to the hospital only to be told that a tragic incident had occurred: the child had passed away. We do not know what to do. We have already contacted the Shengavit police, who have sent personnel. We understand that we cannot bring our child back, but we are confident that the child's death was due to the negligence of the doctors. We are now demanding that those responsible, including doctor Chobanyan, be held accountable to the full extent of the law, which would serve as a lesson to prevent such incidents from happening again, so that no parent experiences the pain that our family is currently enduring. We were supposed to provide three boys to the Armenian army; one of them was eaten here."
The child's grandmother, holding back tears, requested accountability from the hospital administration, but found no one present to hear her plea. The hospital replied that no one was available at that moment.
According to G. Shamshyan, materials are being prepared at the Shengavit police department regarding this incident.
