“Manvel has entered, both bringing out the dead and the wounded”: Demands for the release of the Kapan community leader from custody

Our demand is clear: the release of the Kapan community leader from custody. This was stated today, November 29, by one of the participants in the protest organized by Mayor Samvel Paramazyan in Kapan community during a conversation with NEWS.am.

“I know that a court hearing is scheduled for the 13th. What is the point of keeping him in custody today if the judicial process has started? The court will determine guilt or innocence. Today, the community is leaderless. Syunik is the gateway of Armenia, but during the defense of Syunik, only with one call from the community leader, 300-350 people gathered in an hour; they moved through Jabrail and Zangelan. My son was with him, and he saved my son’s life. My other son defended the borders of Syunik during the three-month mobilization; he just returned two days ago. We know the importance of borders. Let people understand why the conscious masses of Syunik demand Manvel’s freedom. There is no need to politicize everything; this is a demand for specific cases,” said a Kapan man, who did not want to disclose how the mayor saved his son’s life.

Instead, another Kapan resident recounted the events: “We suffered casualties and injuries in Zangelan. Manvel entered, both bringing out the dead and the wounded, and his own son.”
