COVID-19 Outbreak in China
An outbreak of the coronavirus has been reported in China, near the border with Russia. According to the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, 20 cases of infection have been identified in the Hulunbuir region of Inner Mongolia, as reported by RG.
Strict restrictive measures have been implemented in border regions, with residents of Hulunbuir prohibited from leaving the city. Public transportation has been suspended, markets and entertainment venues have been closed, and restaurants have limited operations. Public events have also been restricted.
This situation threatens to impact regional cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, as the Manchuria-Zabaykalsk border checkpoint, which connects China and Russia, is located in the Hulunbuir area.
The number of recorded infection cases in the country is equal to the number of imported cases; however, these 20 imported cases are distributed across China. All patients and those in contact with them have been sent to quarantine.
