A High-Speed Electric Train Strikes a Citizen in Gyumri

Yesterday, a high-speed electric train traveling from Gyumri to Yerevan struck a citizen near the so-called "Stroymash" neighborhood. This information was provided by the South Caucasian Railways company.

"The train driver noticed the obstacle during twilight and applied an emergency brake, but due to the long braking distance, the train was unable to avoid the collision. The high-speed electric train was traveling at a speed of 95 km/h. The body of an unidentified woman was found at the scene of the incident.

The EP2D electric trains are equipped with what is commonly referred to as a 'black box,' the data from which will shed light on the investigation of the incident. Preliminary information indicates that the accident occurred as a result of violating rules governing the railway infrastructure," the statement said.
