Trying to Shift Blame on 'Not Firing' Topic: 'Fact'
'Fact' newspaper reports that on the day before yesterday, the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia issued a statement regarding the criminal case related to the attack by the armed forces of Azerbaijan on the military positions of the Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions on November 16, 2021. They announced that a contracted serviceman of the 2nd rifle battalion of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia and the acting commander of the battalion were arrested. It was also added that another private soldier was involved as a defendant.
Of course, it is natural that a comprehensive investigation should be conducted in such a situation to clarify all circumstances. There is no disagreement about that. However, other interesting circumstances related to November 16 have come to light for 'Fact'. Specifically, sources from the newspaper inform that after the Azerbaijani attack towards the Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions, which resulted in the capture of Armenian servicemen, casualties, and territorial losses, Nikol Pashinyan tasked his team with placing the responsibility for surrendering the sovereign territories entirely on the military. The government aims to show that the actual issue is not the military-political leadership but rather the 'lower-level' military personnel. Thus, the authorities will attempt to absolve themselves of the topic of 'not firing', which has raised questions in both the media and even in the National Assembly.
In essence, we are dealing with a situation where governmental pressure on the army was expressed first before the wartime period, then in connection with the circumstances of the 44-day war, and recently in the context of Azerbaijani provocations and aggression.
