What Does Russia Expect from the Sochi Trilateral Meeting? Andrey Rudenko Elaborates
The Russian side hopes that the upcoming meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia in Sochi will delineate the prospective directions for the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. This was stated today by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko in an interview with TASS.
“We, like all the people living in those two countries, in Russia and in the South Caucasus region, expect that lasting peace and stability in the region will be established as soon as possible,” he noted.
“The meeting is generally aimed at summarizing certain results after the signing of the trilateral agreement on the ceasefire on November 9 of last year. We need to see what has been done and what can be done in the future to advance the peace process, as well as how to promote the overall process of normalization of relations between the countries. We hope that during this meeting, the leaders of the three countries who signed the agreement will outline these prospective directions,” Rudenko said in response to a question about what Moscow expects from the upcoming meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliyev, and Nikol Pashinyan.
