Video: We Need to Reduce Military Operations on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Border, Aliyev

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev stated during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi that serious incidents have not been reported in the area of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh.

“Over the past year, there have been no serious incidents in the area of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers. There have been no military clashes or significant events. There were random incidents that do not represent a systemic crisis,” he noted.

According to Aliyev, “military clashes have occurred on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border, but that is not in the area of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers.”

“However, all of this compels us to comprehensively analyze and discuss, including in a trilateral format, how we can manage and minimize these risks. We highly appreciate your role, the role of senior representatives of the Russian government, and, of course, the Russian peacekeepers,” Aliyev said.
