Serviceman Suren Avetisyan Found Dead at Tavush Border Had Been Drafted in February

A serviceman found dead today, November 24, at the northeastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Suren Avetisyan, was drafted into the army in February 2021. He was serving in the Tavush region, and the incident occurred at a combat outpost located near the village of Koti, where he was on duty.

Suren's close friends are currently unaware of the specific circumstances surrounding his death. One of his friends, who requested anonymity, told NEWS.am that Suren had spoken with his family the day before and had not expressed any complaints. According to him, Suren was not a conflict-prone individual.

Suren Avetisyan was from Yerevan and had a younger sister and brother. It is noted that the body of conscript Suren Roman Avetisyan was found at the outpost with a gunshot wound to the head. The Ministry of Defense has stated that an investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident. However, it remains unclear from the statement whether Suren died as a result of enemy fire.
