Body of 65-Year-Old Man Found in Forest: Charges Filed Against Fellow Villager

The investigation into the murder of a 65-year-old resident of Berd has revealed crucial details about the incident. According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, following various investigative and procedural actions taken by the regional investigative department of Tavush and urgent measures conducted in collaboration with the police, the circumstances of the man's death have become clear.

Earlier reports indicated that the man's body was discovered in a forested area near the village of Vazashen, bearing numerous bodily injuries. The investigation uncovered that the victim had suffered fatal injuries during an altercation over personal disputes and financial disagreements with a 39-year-old inhabitant of the same village. During this confrontation, the suspect attacked the victim with a stick and stones and fled the scene upon realizing that the victim had become motionless.

The 39-year-old man suspected of murder has been arrested and has provided a self-incriminating confession regarding the circumstances of the incident. A forensic examination was conducted with his participation, during which he described the event in detail. Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, charges have been filed against the suspect for murder under the first part of Article 104 of the Armenian Criminal Code, and he is currently being held in custody as a precautionary measure.

The investigation is ongoing, with measures being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case, including those mentioned in witness testimonies, to ensure an objective and comprehensive inquiry.
