Breastfeeding for Mothers Infected with Covid-19 is Not Contraindicated, Says Muratsan Hospital
Breastfeeding for mothers infected with Covid-19 is not contraindicated. This was stated by the Muratsan University Hospital.
“Recent studies show that the risk of transmitting the virus through breast milk is low. When breastfeeding, it is important to adhere to anti-epidemic rules: wear a protective mask during feeding, wash or disinfect hands before any contact with the baby, and sanitize feeding devices, bottles, and pacifiers after use. Specialists emphasize that breastfeeding is vital for the baby in terms of nutrition, health, and well-being, protecting the child from illness, strengthening the immune system, safeguarding against infections, and fostering the emotional bond between mother and newborn, also contributing to other factors promoting mental health,” the hospital noted.
