VIDEO: All Turks Descend from Altai, Peskov on the Appearance of Russian Regions in the 'Turkic World' Map
Russia's Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has expressed disappointment that the map of the Turkic world, presented to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahçeli, does not indicate with a red star that its center is located not in Turkey, but in Altai, Russia. Peskov conveyed this during an interview on the 'Moscow. Kremlin. Putin' program on the Rossiya-1 channel, responding to journalist Pavel Zarubin's questions, as reported by TASS.
“Our Turkish partners are promoting the idea of Turkic unity, which is normal. I can only express regret that the red star is nonetheless not indicated at the center of the Turkic world,” Peskov said. He emphasized that this center is not in Turkey but on the territory of the Russian Federation, specifically in Altai.
Peskov noted that for every Turk, this is a sacred place from which they have descended. “I say this as a Turkologist,” he stressed.
Earlier, a photo of Erdoğan and Bahçeli was posted on the MHP's Twitter page, showing them holding the so-called map of the Turkic world, which includes significant parts of Russia.
It should be noted that Altai is a Russian state located in southern Siberia, at the foothills of the Altai Mountains. The leader of the MHP, Devlet Bahçeli, gifted the map of the 'Turkic world' to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which marks some regions of the Russian Federation. The photo of the two political figures with the map was published on the party's official Twitter page.
The map highlights several countries, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, in red. Meanwhile, certain southern regions in the northwest of China, Eastern Siberia, parts of the Balkans, and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region are colored orange and yellow. The individual who posted the map's images did not specify what these markings represent.
