Car Theft in Yerevan: Victim Reacts, 'I Went to Use the Bathroom, Came Out and Saw My Car Had Been Taken'
Today, the patrol officers of the Yerevan division of the police made another discovery. Around 00:45, the operational management center of the RA police received a call from 52-year-old Lernik A. from Aragatsotn Province, reporting that ten minutes earlier, an unknown person had stolen his car near the second entrance of the well-known Malatia market in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district.
According to photo reporter Gagik Shamshyan, the information was quickly relayed to the patrol service of the RA police in Yerevan, and the officers began their work.
Shortly thereafter, Nikolay Avetisyan, commander of the second battalion of the first company, and patrol officer Grigor Abgaryan prevented the escape on Nairi Zaryan Street. The suspect was detained by the police and taken to the Malatia division, where materials are being prepared under the elements of robbery.
As reported by G. Shamshyan, the suspect who stole the car is a 51-year-old resident of Yerevan, Gegham M.
In a conversation with SHAMSHYAN.com’s correspondent, the victim, who refused to speak on camera, stated: “I’m in the business of selling agricultural products. I parked my car and went in to take care of my natural needs; when I came out, I saw my car had been taken. I called the police. To be honest, I hadn’t even had a chance to wash up when I found out that these fresh cops (referring to the patrol officers of the Yerevan division) had caught him. Now I have to leave my work and go to the Malatia police station. I am satisfied with the police.”
