The Authorities Attempt to Downplay the Occupation of Armenian Territories through Information Manipulations: Abrahamyan

On May 12, Azerbaijan's aggression in the eastern part of Armenia marked the second phase of its invasion. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the ‘Honorary’ parliamentary group, during a press briefing.

Abrahamyan emphasized the necessity of understanding the reasons behind this new Azerbaijani aggression and clarifying what issues it aimed to address. He noted, “The second important aspect to understand is the territorial losses faced by Armenia as a result of this aggression, apart from the fact that Azerbaijan occupied Armenian territories. What new threats have been created for Armenia?”

The MP pointed out the concerning fact that three days after these military operations, there is still no information on about two dozen of our servicemen who are considered missing. “The combat operations took place in a relatively small area; they were not large-scale, and the intensity of fire was not so significant that we could be without information about our servicemen for 2-3 days. It is also quite worrisome that Azerbaijani Telegram channels have published videos showing the torture and violence inflicted on our soldiers. It is evident that there is a problematic situation regarding their physical existence,” said Abrahamyan, stressing that our main concern should be the urgent repatriation of the captured soldiers.

According to the MP, the authorities are attempting to shift the occupation of Armenian territories to the background through information manipulations.
