Nikol Pashinyan Made a Terrifying Revelation Yesterday That the Public Seems to Have Overlooked: Political Scientist
Political scientist Hrant Melik-Shakhnazaryan wrote on his Facebook page: "Nikol Pashinyan made a terrifying revelation yesterday, which the public seems to have overlooked. He stated that, apparently, due to the advance of Azerbaijanis towards Sisian on November 16, the ‘balance’ of the territories occupied by Armenia has not changed. As it was 41 square kilometers occupied, it remains so. Pashinyan went further, saying that the 41 square kilometers have been occupied even before the Azerbaijani invasion in May. That is, according to him, there is no difference in timing or extent regarding the lands and heights seized by the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia. The 41 square kilometer balance has not changed in any way.
Many perceived Pashinyan's words merely as wordplay and an attempt to mislead the public. However, this is far from the truth. He is speaking of a 'balance', then elaborating that 'before May 12, around 40 square kilometers of territory of the Republic of Armenia has been under Azerbaijan’s control due to the consequences of the first war... It should be noted that as a result of the first war, there are also territories of Soviet Azerbaijan that have been and are currently under Armenia's control.' Pashinyan also added that 'the international community, essentially saying, is that you have taken their territories; they have taken yours, negotiate with each other.' And now we are witnessing just that 'negotiation' process.
Pashinyan explicitly revealed yesterday that instead of the territories of Soviet Azerbaijan under our control, territories of the Republic of Armenia are being ceded to the enemy. As far as I understand, the discussion is about these so-called enclaves. And since Pashinyan cannot, for instance, hand over Tigranashen to his civilized counterparts, he instead offers them other territories. But in such a way that the 'balance' remains unchanged. So, what should Azerbaijan take in place of conditional Tigranashen? Naturally, positions and heights of great strategic and tactical importance.
Now do you understand how it is possible that the enemy advances more than 5 kilometers towards Sisian, yet the surface area of the occupied territories by Armenia does not change? It remains 41 square kilometers. This is how it happens. And the casualties and captives are just the 'beautiful packaging' of that deal (forgive me, dear God)."
