VIDEO: Azerbaijani troops have invaded Armenian territory from the east. Pashinyan convenes Security Council meeting

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired a meeting of the Security Council, which was attended not only by Security Council members but also by the President of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Araik Harutyunyan, and the head of the National Assembly's Civil Contract faction Hayk Konjoryan.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan stated: “Esteemed President of the National Assembly, honorable members of the Security Council, dear colleagues, since yesterday we have had several meetings and discussions in this composition in various formats. The subject of the discussions has been the fact of the invasion of the territory of the Republic of Armenia by Azerbaijani troops in one of the eastern sectors of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. The purpose of our meeting today is to summarize our discussions and also to provide our public with complete information about the events that have taken place.”

“Before that, I want to emphasize that I have made the decision to relieve Arshak Karapetyan of his duties as Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and appoint Suren Papikyan, who is currently serving as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, to this position. This decision was made as a result of the analysis of the events unfolding since yesterday. I invited Mr. Karapetyan this morning and thanked him for his work as Minister of Defense, stating that I appreciate the work done; however, the current situation has led me to the decision that a change in the Minister of Defense is necessary.”

“Today we will first hear the report of the Chief of the General Staff, Mr. Davtyan, on the current situation and the overall operational situation, and we will also conduct an analysis of the situation and attempt to make decisions regarding our actions aimed at the protection of the security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan added.
