Unidentified Explosive Device Thrown into Yard of Kotayk Community Resident's Home

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the explosion that occurred in the yard of a resident's home in the Kotayk community. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the statement, "In the Abovyan Investigative Division of the Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, necessary measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the explosion that took place in the yard of the residence in the Kotayk community, based on Article 185, Part 2, Clause 1 and Article 235, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code."

Preliminary data indicates that on November 13, 2021, around 02:00, an individual who allegedly committed a crime threw an unidentified explosive device into the yard of a private house in the Kotayk community with the intention of causing damage to another's property in a dangerous manner. As a result, an explosion occurred, which was reported by the resident at 07:20 on the same day.

The scene was examined, during which damage from the explosion was found on a "Toyota Land Cruiser" vehicle parked in the yard, as well as on the glass of the residence's kitchen window. Fragments of the explosive device and the detonator's mechanism were found on the ground.

During the preliminary investigation, several individuals have been questioned, and a comprehensive forensic examination in explosives technology, forensic chemistry, and forensic examination has been ordered to clarify significant circumstances related to the criminal case. Instructions have been given to the investigating body, and the preliminary investigation continues.

Measures are being taken to identify the person who allegedly committed the crime, locate them, and present them to the prosecuting body.
