No Reasonable Explanation Has Been Provided: Supreme Spiritual Council on Not Declaring January 5 and 7 as Non-Working Days
During the expanded meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council held at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin from November 8-13, which included the participation of the diocesan leaders of Armenia, discussions were held regarding the draft amendments to the RA law on "Holidays and Commemorative Days". This included the proposal from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to declare January 5 and 7 as non-working days.
It was noted that the Mother See's proposal was not included in the aforementioned legislative changes, and no substantial discussions occurred with the Armenian Church on this matter.
In the context of national, spiritual, and state interests, no reasonable explanation has been provided for rejecting the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin's proposal and for the initiative to remove these days from the list of non-working days.
The members of the council expressed hope that the proposal would receive a positive response in parliament and that our faithful people would be able to head towards the churches without hindrance for the commemoration of the Feast of the Nativity and the Day of the Dead, to offer incense and prayers in memory of their beloved ones.
