Georgia's Position on the '6-Platform': Georgian Analyst
The idea of the '6-platform' is being actively promoted, regarding which Georgia has expressed its stance multiple times, and it is unlikely that Georgia will ever agree to it, stated analyst Irakli Menagarishvili in an interview with 168.am, addressing the actively discussed '3+3' format or the '6-platform'.
“There is a problem of drawing Georgia into that zone of influence, where the impact of the US and EU will be minimal or absent. It is also clear why Turkey pushes it forward, while Russia maintains a certain neutrality. However, I believe that at this stage, realignment is underway, and if Moscow were genuinely interested in implementing this new mechanism as soon as possible, even without Tbilisi, it would already be functioning. There is a public process, but not everything is public and clear,” said the analyst.
He noted that Moscow's position is of significant importance, and it is delaying, waiting for certain processes. “In this process, Georgia has its agenda with neighboring countries, which it is implementing in agreement with its partners. Iran's position is clearer, but more noteworthy is Moscow's and Yerevan's positions, which I believe are conditioned by the fact that the initial plan was precisely the '6-platform', and if it does not materialize in this form, potential participants begin to rethink. However, I cannot say that it will collapse; I cannot make the same claim about Georgia's initiative, as everyone is in a phase of realignment in the new world, and this could prolong,” Irakli Menagarishvili concluded.
