The Government Justifies and Legitimizes Azerbaijan's Actions: Abrahamyan

The government has taken on a role that Azerbaijan should have assumed. It justifies and legitimizes Azerbaijan's actions while significantly narrowing our negotiation possibilities that could allow us to negotiate with one side or another. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a deputy from the 'Honorary Title' faction, during a press conference.

According to him, the government is trying to mask the reality, pushing primary issues to the background while focusing on secondary, tertiary, and quaternary problems.

“We are talking about the closure of routes, the safety of settlements located in those areas, discussing Azerbaijani insolence and impudence, while the government claims that they have built a new road that is qualitatively much better, with higher international standards,” noted Abrahamyan, adding, “What does the quality of the road have to do with the primary concern when we discuss how Azerbaijan has not only penetrated different parts of the Republic of Armenia but also maintains control over our critical infrastructure, thereby posing a serious threat to our settlements?”

Abrahamyan emphasized that the issue of the government is not to prevent Azerbaijani aggression and minimize security threats but to go further; the authorities are legitimizing Azerbaijani provocations, creating a background within the Armenian society that Azerbaijan’s actions correspond to the situation stemming from Soviet maps.

Touching on the installation of Azerbaijani border posts on the Goris-Kapan road, Abrahamyan highlighted that this is not solely an issue of connecting Goris to Kapan; it is the Syunik road that connects us to the Persian Gulf through Iran and other countries.

“This is both food and economic security. Syunik inherently has geopolitical and regional significance and is an important region for Armenia, providing security,” Abrahamyan concluded.
