Where is Aghvan Hovsepyan and what is his health condition

The former Prosecutor General and the former Head of the Investigative Committee, Aghvan Hovsepyan, has been in custody for about two months. Alongside his detention, his health issues continue to arise. His lawyer, Sasun Rafaelian, informed "Hraparak" that Hovsepyan is currently in the "Yerevan-Center" penitentiary under the supervision of doctors.

"He has undergone numerous examinations. There is also a necessity for surgery, for which the relevant tests are ongoing, and nothing is clear yet. I want to point out that throughout this time Mr. Hovsepyan could have been in a civilian hospital, but he refused, stating that it is better for the examinations to be conducted in the penitentiary and only after that to undergo surgery if there is no other opportunity for treatment," he noted.

Referring to the criminal case, the lawyer stated that there is still no news regarding their side. According to him, in addition to Hovsepyan, one more person is involved in this case. He also mentioned that all interested parties have provided testimonies against Hovsepyan.

When asked if these testimonies are directed, Rafaelian avoided answering. To this day, Aghvan Hovsepyan has refused to give testimony.

It is remembered that according to the official statement, A. Hovsepyan has been charged with legitimizing particularly large amounts of property obtained through criminal means, totaling 1,299,404,414 AMD (money laundering) with several episodes. According to the statement, he actively participated in the management of several LLCs engaged in entrepreneurial activities, and additionally received a bribe of particularly large amounts of 190,000,000 AMD and committed embezzlement of particularly large amounts of 800,000,000 AMD through fraudulent means.
