Video: I think it was Turkish uniform; the shooter was a special forces operative, having come from behind. The injured near Shushi spoke

Yesterday, shots were fired from the Azerbaijani side at civilians working on water pipe repairs near a crossroads close to Shushi. The injured are currently hospitalized in Stepanakert and have recounted the details of the incident, describing how an unfamiliar soldier in military uniform approached them and began uttering incomprehensible sounds and yelling.

“He came near and started screaming. Gevorg said in Russian that the water is running, and we are working. He started screaming again, mumbling in broken Russian, but his words were half-formed and forced. We told him that we would not continue working. He wanted to shoot with an automatic weapon, pulled out a pistol, and shot the guy, killing him. Then he shot Gevorg and then Armen in the neck. The excavator was already moving, I opened the door, and he started screaming, I said we are not working anymore. The wounded guy went and sat in the sprinter, and Gevorg came towards me, I opened the door. On his way, he was shot in the chest, then in Gevorg’s back, and then at me. He was standing right in front of me,” recounted the injured.

Injured Armenian recounted that the aggressive individual was very close to them, standing face to face and they only understood from his words that he was uttering curses in broken Russian. After the gunfire, the employees of the water utilities managed to escape the scene by vehicle. Gevorg, one of the wounded, stated that he was injured in the hand, managed to reach for the tractor's grabber and with the other injured individual, they moved towards the “Zapravka crossroads” near the Russian checkpoint.

“We were at the Russian post. They brought first aid, pressing on the wound to halt any major blood loss. We asked them to bring their ambulance. We were transported by a company vehicle. On the way, Gago called for an ambulance,” he recounted.

Witnesses confirmed suspicions that the shooter was not a representative of the Azerbaijani armed forces, insisting that based on the uniform, the shooter appeared to be a Turkish military personnel. “I think it was a Turkish uniform; he was a special forces operative. He had a helmet, a bulletproof vest, and plastic knee pads; it was full epicrisis. He spoke a bit in Russian, and that was it. He seemed trained, he had come from behind,” described the wounded man.

Four civilian individuals injured from the Azerbaijani side near the crossroads close to Shushi have been transported to Stepanakert hospital, one of whom, a 22-year-old, has died.
