Criminal Case Opened Following Soldier's Death from Gunfire in Combat Position Cafeteria

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened a criminal case under Article 365, Part 3 of the Criminal Code within the sixth military investigative division to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of conscript junior sergeant Grigor Sahaki Vardanyan.

Initial reports suggest that the soldier violated the rules for combat duty while on guard duty at military unit N, resulting in an incident on November 7, 2021, around 04:20 AM, in the cafeteria of the combat position. Vardanyan sustained injuries from a gunshot fired in this area and passed away while being transported to the hospital.

The investigative group has been tasked with conducting the preliminary investigation. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are underway.
