Wrestlers Achieve Victories at the World Championships
At the ongoing U23 World Wrestling Championships in Serbia, Armenian freestyle wrestler Vazgen Tevanyan lost in the final of the 70 kg category with a score of 2:10 against Kyrgyzstan's Ernazar Akmatilev, becoming the vice-champion.
Prior to reaching the final, Tevanyan had secured victories over Shamil Ustaev from Germany, Uzbek Begijon Kuldashev, Turkish Cüneyt Budak, and Moldovan Nikolay Grahamze.
Manvel Khndzrtsyan (57 kg) achieved a decisive early victory over Indian Saurab Igaveyi and became a bronze medalist.
Hrachya Margaryan, competing in the 65 kg category, lost in the bronze medal match to Turkish Kavit Akari in the final moments of the match.
In the 79 kg category, Arman Avagyan reached the semifinals but lost to Turkish Ramazan Sari. In the bronze medal match, his opponent was Georgian Goga Mamiashvili. During the match, Avagyan found himself trailing 0:4, but he managed to grab the bronze victory at the last moment.
Our freestyle wrestlers are set to enhance the results of our team at the World Championships. In the 61 kg category, Arsen Harutyunyan will compete against Russia's Artur Chebodaev in the final. In the 74 kg category, Hrayr Alikhanayan will fight for third place. Mher Markosyan in the 86 kg category will try to contend for a bronze medal through the consolation rounds, and the same applies to super heavyweight Martin Simonian.
It should be noted that the freestyle competitions at the U23 World Championships started on November 5.
