Anahit Avanesyan Becomes Easily Irritated: 'Zhoghovurd'

The 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports that Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan has become easily irritated even with criticism from her own teammates. According to the newspaper, not long ago during a discussion called by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the minister sought justifications for all the questions directed at her.

Our source noted that Avanesyan tried to create an impression that she was going above and beyond, doing everything possible and impossible, but that nothing would change solely with her efforts. 'Most members of the ruling party believe that if their own department is not functioning properly, if the ministry's departments and agencies are unaware of one another and do not compliment each other, then no one is to blame,' relayed the pro-government source from the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper. Furthermore, what does the Health Ministry's statement mean that the pace of coronavirus spread suggests the situation could spiral out of control? This is nothing more than an admission that the controlling body— the ministry—is failing to perform its functions, thereby allowing the situation to become unmanageable.

During the aforementioned meeting, Pashinyan announced that under no circumstances would the country go into a general lockdown, making it clear that there are specific individuals responsible for the current situation due to their inadequate work. Alongside this image, Anahit Avanesyan has conducted her regional trips by helicopter through the Sanaviation service. For comparison, the Minister of Health of Kazakhstan was dismissed just months ago for using a Sanaviation plane and is now facing charges of misuse of office.

This scenario would not work in Armenia, of course, because the government has serious personnel issues. Alternatively, Avanesyan may leave her position, wait, and after some time, the current administration may appoint her to the same position again—exactly the same way it occurred with the former and current Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Artak Davtyan. Recall that during the 'plague days,' he violated the law by holding a wedding for his son and was dismissed on that basis, but immediately after the war, Pashinyan ‘returned’ Davtyan to the position of Chief of the General Staff.
