Due to the Presence of Azerbaijanis in Gegharkunik, There Are Villages with No Water at All: Tatoyan

It was a remarkable development when the PACE adopted a resolution on September 27 that incorporated the proposal of the Human Rights Defender. This was announced by Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan at a press conference.

According to him, this point clearly stipulates the necessity to commence negotiations on the creation of a demilitarized zone. The Human Rights Defender also presented photographs taken by his staff from the settlements in Gegharkunik and Syunik regions where Azerbaijani forces have appeared since May 12.

Arman Tatoyan noted that in Verin Shorzha, people live with their families and graze their livestock, while Azerbaijani military personnel are positioned very close to the area. “There is another issue here. There is a water reservoir from which irrigation water is generated, as well as drinking water. This area is also under the control of Azerbaijani forces. Due to the presence of Azerbaijanis in Gegharkunik, we have villages where there is absolutely no water. How will this issue be resolved?” emphasized Arman Tatoyan.
