Discussion on Appointing Tigran Avinyan as a Member of the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Plant Board

The candidacy of former Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan is being discussed in the government as a director of the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Plant (ZCMC). This was announced on Wednesday during a briefing with journalists in the parliament by the head of the Prime Minister's Office, Arayik Harutyunyan.

“Avinyan's candidacy is under discussion, and you will know when a final decision is made,” he stated, adding that the reason for the discussion of Avinyan's candidacy is his membership in the political team. “Tigran Avinyan is a member of the political team and remains a member of the board (of the Civil Contract Party),” he noted.

It is worth noting that Avinyan did not participate in the parliamentary elections held in June 2021, hinting that “business should be separate from politics.” Following this, various reports emerged in the media suggesting that Avinyan was expressing his disagreement with the presence of businessmen Khachatur Sukiasyan and Gurgen Arsenyan on the party's list in transitional positions.
