Details of the Brutal Murder Committed on November 1
On November 1, law enforcement officials from the Criminal Police of the RA Police, together with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Yerevan Police Department and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Shengavit Police Department, with the cooperation of officers from the Goris Police Department, conducted an operation called "Three in Syunik, not counting the weapon" on the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Meghri highway.
According to shamshyan.com, as a result of the operation, three individuals were apprehended in the Syunik region: 42-year-old Vrej A., 20-year-old Haik A., and 22-year-old Narek A., all residents of the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan.
The suspects were taken to the Shengavit Police Department, where they are suspected of being involved in a dispute with 41-year-old Khachatur Sahakyan, a resident living on the same street at 43 Karmir Blur, around 01:30 AM that day. During the confrontation, Haik A. allegedly fired several shots from a firearm he possessed, injuring Khachatur Sahakyan, who succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
During the investigation at the crime scene led by the Shengavit investigators, Hovhannes Aristakesyan, head of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Yerevan Police, and Karen Buniatyan, head of the Shengavit Police Division, deduced, using a Sherlock Holmes-like reasoning, the likely suspects and their route heading towards Artsakh. Subsequent information confirmed that they were detained in the Syunik region, as it was suspected they could be armed given the shooting incident from hours earlier.
The suspects were presented to the Investigation Committee of the RA in Yerevan, where they were arrested by the investigator's decision.
According to sources, Vrej H. and Narek A. are relatives. Earlier reports indicated that a homicide involving the use of a firearm occurred in Yerevan on November 1. At around 02:10 AM, the operational management center of the RA Police received a call from the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center, reporting that a man had been brought in deceased.
Police officials including Sevan Kocharyan, head of the Yerevan Police Department, Arthur Zakaryan, deputy head for operational matters, and Hovhannes Aristakesyan, head of the Criminal Investigation Division, arrived at the hospital. Vardan Vardanyan, head of the main division of the Criminal Police, and his deputy, Armen Petrosyan, also attended. An operational team from the Shengavit Police Department, led by Karen Buniatyan, was on site as well. They confirmed that the deceased was Khachatur Sahakyan, a 41-year-old resident of the Shengavit administrative district in Yerevan.
Meanwhile, a group from the Investigation Committee of Yerevan's Shengavit Investigation Division led by Mher Vardanyan, head of the Yerevan Investigative Division, Robert Vardanyan, head of the Shengavit Investigation Division, and senior investigator Yolchyan, discovered that the dispute had occurred around 01:30 AM at the same address, during which an unidentified person had fired at Khachatur Sahakyan with a still unidentified firearm, resulting in his fatal injuries on the way to the hospital.
