Video: Husband Arrested on Suspicion of Wife's Murder

On October 31, 2021, at 13:50, authorities received a report that a brother had killed his wife and attempted suicide. An investigative group immediately went to the scene, where they discovered the body of a 46-year-old woman in the kitchen of a house on Suvorov Street in Yerevan. The victim showed signs of violence around the neck, and her husband, who sustained cutting wounds on his wrists, was taken to a medical center.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Article 104, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, with the preliminary investigation assigned to an investigative group. Various investigative and procedural actions have revealed several circumstances of the case, including the motive.

Evidence gathered during the investigation indicates that the couple had disagreements over personal issues, and their relationship had been tense in recent months. Preliminary findings suggest that on the day of the incident, a confrontation took place between them, during which the man strangled his wife and then cut his wrists with a kitchen knife in an attempt to commit suicide.

A crime scene examination uncovered traces of blood and a kitchen knife with blood-like stains, which has been seized, along with a note found on the kitchen table. Witnesses have been interrogated, and the clothes worn by the victim and her husband at the time of the incident have been confiscated. Forensic examinations have been ordered.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of his wife's murder. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, with measures being undertaken to clarify all circumstances of the case, ensure an objective and comprehensive inquiry, and verify the details indicated in testimonies. Instructions have been given to the investigative body.
