New Details on Gunfire Resembling Action Movie Involving Sons of ‘Chvchv Aro’ and Former Kanaker-Zeytun Community Head
According to SHAMSHYAN.com, officers from the Kanaker-Zeytun police station conducted a site investigation at 26/22 Gogol Street, where they uncovered 8 9mm cartridges, a concealed knife, and 8 various types of pills. Kanaker-Zeytun police, in cooperation with criminal investigation officers from the Yerevan city department, undertook necessary operational-search measures and subsequently conducted explanatory work, leading to a 39-year-old resident of Kanaker-Zeytun, Hrachya Sahakyan, voluntarily presenting himself to the police on November 6. He handed over a 9mm caliber “TT” type pistol to the officers.
According to the photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Sahakyan stated that the pistol belonged to his father, G. S., who passed away in 2013, and that the cartridges, knife, and pills found at the scene were his. He also noted that the pills are sold over-the-counter at any pharmacy as painkillers. He added that during the argument, he fired the pistol into the air twice.
Sahakyan has been released. According to G. Shamshyan's information, all this is connected to the irreparable offspring of ‘Chvchv Aro,’ known for their criminal stories, former Kanaker-Zeytun community head Arayik Kotanjyan, his son Samvel Kotanjyan, and their friends, who were involved in a case reminiscent of an action movie in Yerevan.
As previously reported by SHAMSHYAN.com, operational information was received by the criminal investigation department of the Yerevan city police on October 7 concerning an incident in Yerevan that resembled an action movie, including brawls, shots fired, and hooliganism. According to operational data, on that day, 31-year-old Samvel Kotanjyan was at a restaurant complex in Yerevan with his friends and family members. At a neighboring table were residents of Yerevan, 29-year-old Sarkis Vardanian, 28-year-old Serj Vardanian, and one unidentified individual. While sitting at the table, they made loud obscene remarks, which led Kotanjyan to confront them, resulting in a brawl.
Subsequent operational data indicated that Kotanjyan, along with two friends, met Sarkis Vardanian near building 12 on Sayat-Nova Street and assaulted him, causing bodily harm. On November 3, around 01:00 AM, Vardanian, while driving a Mercedes GL, accidentally encountered Kotanjyan's friend, 26-year-old Samvel Ghazaryan, who was in a Kia vehicle. Vardanian attempted to stop him, and while pursuing him, he intentionally collided with the Kia. During this time, Ghazaryan had contacted Kotanjyan by phone and informed him of the situation, who advised him not to stop and to flee immediately to his residence. Vardanian pursued Ghazaryan, but Ghazaryan managed to reach near Kotanjyan's home, where Kotanjyan, his father, 57-year-old Arayik Kotanjyan, and their 39-year-old acquaintance, Artak Tsaturyan, who was working as a bodyguard, were armed and waiting for Ghazaryan and the pursuing Vardanian.
They then fired shots at the pursuing vehicles with the weapons they possessed, prompting the occupants to flee to avoid gunfire. As reported by the photojournalist, the Vardanian brothers are known figures associated with the criminal history of ‘Chvchv Aro,’ while A. Kotanjyan is the former community head of Kanaker-Zeytun.
