Shirak Governor to Resign, Nazeli Baghdasaryan to Replace Him
Just days ago, rumors circulated in the media that Nazeli Baghdasaryan, a deputy from the ruling Civil Contract party, would be appointed as the Governor of Shirak. This information was reported by Hraparak.am.
The government decided on this change after the local elections in Gyumri on October 17, where the ruling party was defeated by the former mayor's party. According to discussions, Shirak Governor Hovhannes Harutyunyan is responsible for the election results and has not justified himself, thus he is expected to resign.
“Today, Nazeli Baghdasaryan has resigned from her parliamentary mandate. According to our information, next week the Shirak governor will submit his resignation, and Nazeli Baghdasaryan will be appointed in his place. Our sources indicate that she has been seen in the government building today. Most likely, her visit was not accidental; she received the government’s 'approval,' which was followed by her resignation from the mandate. Incidentally, Hovhannes Harutyunyan has also been in the capital these days. It is believed that he will return to the healthcare sector, as reports suggest he will assume a position in the Ministry of Health,” the website writes.
