Turkey's Response to Positive Signals from Armenia Will Be Equally Positive, Says Cavusoglu
Turkey is consulting with Azerbaijan regarding the normalization of relations with Armenia. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in an interview with CNN Turk.
“We discussed this issue with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's recent visit to Fuzuli (Varanda),” said the head of Turkey's foreign affairs office.
Cavusoglu added that positive signals have been received from Armenia, to which Ankara will respond positively. “We are also discussing what steps we can jointly take with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has offered to sign a peace treaty with Armenia, but there has not yet been any positive turn in Armenia,” Cavusoglu noted.
Moreover, he emphasized that all decisions regarding Armenia will be made exclusively in cooperation with Baku. “Everyone must accept, and in Armenia, this has already been accepted, that the decisions we will make, the steps we will take, will be done jointly with Azerbaijan,” he stated.
It is noteworthy that the upcoming five-year plan of the Armenian government includes a commitment to efforts aimed at normalizing relations with Turkey, which, according to the document, “corresponds to the interests of stability, security, and economic development in the region.”
