Starting Today, Moscow is Under Lockdown
In Russia, the upcoming week has been declared non-working, and Moscow will enter a lockdown from October 28 to November 7. Apart from supermarkets and pharmacies, other shops and shopping centers will be closed.
The restrictions are being implemented to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, the number of coronavirus infections and deaths in Russia has been increasing daily. On October 27, reported figures indicated that 1,123 people died from coronavirus, marking the highest daily death toll recorded in Russia.
The number of infected individuals increased by over 36,500 in one day, with 5,700 cases reported in Moscow alone. Authorities are hopeful that limiting contact will help to stop the spread of the virus.
The lockdown declared in Russia is paid, ensuring that employees will retain their salaries.
