VIDEO: There may be an agreed text publication, but no meeting is scheduled between Pashinyan and Aliyev
Currently, there is no meeting scheduled between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, in the National Assembly.
“At the same time, both at this moment and generally, various proposals for different meetings are being discussed regularly, almost constantly. Presumably, as a result of such possible meetings, there may be an agreed text publication,” he said.
Mirzoyan noted that, of course, no signing of documents is planned.
According to the Armenian Foreign Minister, nevertheless, such meetings have numerous practical significances for Armenia. “They may create another opportunity to address the entire humanitarian issues in the post-war context, first of all, the prompt release of prisoners, as well as the issues concerning the cultural heritage monuments of Armenia remaining in the territories under Azerbaijani control and many other matters,” he said.
The Minister emphasized that these meetings are also an opportunity to ease tensions in the region and to attempt to exert efforts towards achieving more sustainable peace.
Mirzoyan indicated that negotiations contain a certain component of confidentiality. “But I want to assure you for today, yesterday, and tomorrow that in our negotiations behind closed doors, our positions are 100 percent in line with the positions publicly stated by our political team and by the Prime Minister of Armenia, we are not retreating even a millimeter,” he stated.
