Pashinyan on "Corridor Rhetoric" and Hostile Atmosphere in the Region

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated during a question-and-answer session in the parliament that "corridor logics" and "corridor rhetoric" deepen the contradictions and hostility, creating a hostile atmosphere in the region.

He emphasized that the Armenian government continues to hold the view that all regional economic and transport communications should be opened. According to him, that is the guarantee of security and peace.

"This primarily means that the railways that once existed should begin to open and become accessible for the countries of the region in a certain order. The highways that once existed should also open and become accessible for the countries of the region in some sequence. I believe this is also a critical component of security because when economic and parallel connections start to operate, it creates certain guarantees for security and peace," said Pashinyan.

He added, "The question is what stages and timelines this will occur in. There seems to be an agreement on this matter." He further noted that there had been a lot of noise before the announcement on January 11, but he assured that there were no reservations regarding the text of that announcement.

"Because it’s a normal, constructive text. Now we are discussing how this should specifically take place along what routes, and in my opinion, our position is that the routes should symbolize peace, not conflict," he stated.
