How Much Money Armenia and Azerbaijan Have Allocated for Their Defense and Security Expenses
The defense and security expenses of Azerbaijan's state budget for 2022 are expected to amount to 4.489 billion manats, according to Azerbaijani media reports.
A bill regarding Azerbaijan's 2022 state budget has been published, indicating that defense and security expenses will total 4.489 billion manats. The state budget revenues for Azerbaijan in 2022 are forecasted to be around 26.82 billion manats, reflecting a 5.4% increase compared to 2021. Moreover, approximately 4.5 billion dollars are planned for defense.
In Armenia, the draft budget for 2022 allocates 23.7% of expenditures under the item "Defense, Public Order, Security, and Judicial Affairs," with allocations amounting to 518.8 billion drams. This marks an approximately 11% increase compared to the previous year.
In the 2022 state budget draft, military expenditures have increased by 33 billion drams, with a planned allocation of 345 billion drams in 2022, up from 312 billion drams this year. The majority of these funds will be directed towards improving the ministry of defense's infrastructure conditions.
Simultaneously, the allocation for meeting military needs is set to remain unchanged compared to 2021, at 217 billion drams, whereas, in 2020, this item received 243 billion drams.
