Counterfeit COVID Passports Sold for 70 Euros in Georgia: Details

Authorities have detained nine individuals for producing and using fake vaccination documents and negative test results, with one arrested. According to the investigative service, instances of creating and utilizing counterfeit documents occurred in Tbilisi and the Imereti region. This was reported by Aliq.ge.

It was noted that in one case, the accused prepared two fake COVID passports at a travel company located in Tbilisi for an unvaccinated citizen aiming to avoid mandatory quarantine while traveling abroad, each sold for 70 euros. The documents falsely listed the recipient’s vaccination history and negative laboratory test results and were subsequently validated with a counterfeit stamp from the Justice House affiliated with the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

According to the investigative service, in a second incident in the Imereti region, eight citizens were found to have purchased and utilized counterfeit PCR documents issued by medical institutions to bypass COVID-19 transmission regulations while crossing the state border.

Those accused of preparing and using fake documents face up to three years in prison. Additionally, it is noteworthy that a single laboratory in Georgia is reported to have issued up to one hundred counterfeit PCR tests. The “Neolab” laboratory informed the Ministry of Internal Affairs about this matter in February.
