Alen Simonyan on October 27
The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, believes that the main causes, key participants, and the unresolved questions regarding October 27 are known to the public.
“We will all receive answers to these questions, including from a legal standpoint,” he stated during a conversation with reporters.
Simonyan pointed out that he still sees dangers today. Regarding the punishment of the guilty, he noted that as an official, he does not have the right to make any statements that could imply accusations and might subsequently affect legal processes.
“Naturally, the main actors have been punished; they are in prison. Our task today is to understand the reasons and the instigators, those who benefited politically from all this. The community is aware of these people's interests, and I don’t believe I am authorized to speak on this matter right now,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly.
When asked whether the crime on October 27 was related to the exchange of Meghri, Simonyan responded, “I do not rule it out; it is my opinion. I do not exclude that the situation we have concerning the war began precisely on October 27 because if it weren’t for October 27, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
Alen Simonyan assured that everything will be done to ensure that the masterminds behind October 27 find themselves behind bars.
